LAICHWILTACH FAMILY LIFE SERVICES
WHAT WE DO:
We provide services to all First Nations families, and these services are led by your family goals. We follow your lead, and your child’s development. While we all have different roles, we all have one important role in common, and that is to help our families with their child’s goals and developments.
You might see us here at Laichwiltach Family Life Society, in their daycare, Head Start or Strong Start, a park or in your home.
We see families locally here in the Campbell River Area, Quadra & Cortes Island, Gold River and Sayward.
QUICK LINKS:
0 to 6 Programs
Our mission is to honour this gift by supporting the development of Aboriginal children within the context of the family, community and culture and by offering access to culturally appropriate early intervention support programs.
Family Programs
Laichwiltach’s goal is to empower and promote healing in our communities from a First nations perspective for all people of native ancestry in unity.
Youth Programs
We help youth work through their issues like feeling powerless, angry or distrusting, having shame or guilt or acting out in abusive ways in social settings and relationships.
Elder Programs
The purpose of the program is to help reduce feelings of isolation. Some of the ways we accomplish this with fundraising activities, teaching young people how to make bannock and attending local and regional cultural events.
Child & Youth Counselling
We offer a safe, supportive and holistic environment in which we provide assessment, referrals, one-on-one counselling, skill-building and other services to our community’s youth.
Family Therapy
The Family Therapy Service provides holistic and client centered counselling to children, youth, adults, couples, and families. Service is provided to people of Aboriginal descent and their families in Campbell River and the Comox Valley.
Addictions Recovery
We offer one-on-one addictions counselling, assessment and referral to treatment centres, after-care support and planning, on-going support and intervention strategies and assistance.
Addictions/Anger Management
Through one-on-one and group support, we offer a variety of services and workshops to help those trying to overcome behaviour that prevents a full and healthy lifestyle.
Group Activities

Collaborative Planning
Collaborative Planning Practices
Collaborative Planning is a strength-based, future-focused process. It involves a neutral third-party facilitator and welcomes family members as “experts” in the planning process. Often, it includes extended family and cultural traditions. By creating transparency in the planning and decision-making processes, it can improve the working relationships among family members and with MCFD representatives.

Family Case Planning Conferences
Family Case Planning Conferences can be a social worker-driven process that addresses immediate concerns by developing short term work plans. Families and or support workers may request a Family Case Planning Conference to solve problems or to create new plans. Each conference is a 90-minute, structured meeting and participants will leave with a written copy of the next steps to take.
