YOUTH PROGRAMS

Youth Life Skills

The BladeRunner Program is for youth at risk, age 18 to 30.  This is an employment readiness program where participants will learn a multitude of basic life skills.  Along with life skills, the participants will receive hospitality and some industrial certificates courses such as Basic Food Safe, First Aid, WorldHost Fundamentals, Flagging, Forklift Operating Tickets, cashier training, etc First Nations crafts are implemented throughout the program.

The BladeRunner Program is funded through the provincial Access Community Career Employment Services Society.  ACCESS provides training and human resource development services that inspire, nurture and encourage urban aboriginal people on their journey to success. The BladeRunner Program was initially created and geared towards employing BC aboriginal youth in the construction industry.  Laichwiltach Family Life Society’s approach will be distinct and geared towards tourism and the hospitality industry.

The BladeRunner program is helping youth to become valued contributing citizens of our communities.  Youth will understand the necessity of being punctual and respectful of time, employer expectations, etc.  When you hire a BladeRunner youth, they arrive at work with basic certification, gear (if needed), and a willingness to work hard.
